81 is a good score to the recruiter, anything above a 50 is. It's considered an "Alpha", or quality applicant. As a test score, it's also pretty good. The raw score (AFQT- Armed Forces Qualification Test) determines whether or not he can join. The line scores qualify him for specific jobs. It's impossible to know what he qualifies for without knowing the required lines scores of the job he wants and what scores he has. Most jobs only pull from 3 to 4 line scores (if that) of the 10 to 11 (can't remember) that the ASVAB has. Source: I recruited in the Army for 4 years.

The answer I was looking for...thanks boss!

Took it in high school and didn't try at all. Fast forward 4 years and decided to join ANG. High school scores were so low they wanted me to retake it so I did. Can't remember what I scored but it was so much higher, they thought I cheated so they made me take it again . I scored high enough that I qualified for whatever I wanted. ??
