They both need to go before they tank the program completely. They went into this coaching hire thinking they had an ace in the hole Coach O, to leverage against elite coaches. Said they werent going to "overpay". No elite coach is going to change schools for the going rate. The prices always go up, but just like franchise QBs in the NFL, you cannot win consistently without an elite HC in college.

Basically they see the football program as an expense rather than an asset to invest in. They dont understand that the more you put into it, the more you will get out of it. Really is sad because Saban showed us the way to success when he was here, and now we've come full circle back to trying to do things cheap and easy.

If Alleva hired Orgeron before the coaching changes board got out of control with rumors, it wouldn't be such a mess. But people were running around all over the place saying 'big time coach A' is coming to LSU, it's a done deal. The AD allowed people to get their hopes up.

In the grand scheme of things, Orgeron isn't a horrible hire. People think he's a horrible hire because they think we settled because we couldn't get our dream candidates. Alleva didn't run this show like a great athletic director should. He wasn't decisive, wasn't stern, and got played from every angle he could have been.

At the end of the day, it's a horrible time to be looking for a head coach (especially for LSU). There just isn't much out there right now, especially with ties to SEC recruiting.

I truly believe O will be a great coach. I'm willing to give him time to correct what Miles allowed to slowly suffocate our program over the last 5 years. He will hire the best coordinators, increase spending across the board, and recruit players that we need to compete.

But Alleva should be judged harshly for the way things played out over the last 8 weeks. I hope Woodward still loves LSU and is willing to come home if we need a change.
