This is why I don't quite buy this...Alleva knew he was playing a losing game. So instead of bidding, losing to Texas, and showing up with O as your runner up prize (a terrible one at that), you paint the picture that Herman is not a man of integrity and you picked the guy dying for this job to further endear him to the fans.
