I think the jury is still out on Smart.

He has a lot of young talent that's very good.

I will hold up a cpl more years before I write him off...or crown him.

But LSU supposedly has all that talent just the same. So are you saying Miles and Cam could be as productive with Saban's team?

Saban is another Bellicheck. How many coordinators Bill had that left and in short time and couldn't make it? Quite a few.

Yep.

I used too, but I kept getting banned.

My buddy does and if anything important goes down I just let him shoot me a text.

it's easy, belichick and saban have philosophies

O's philosophy seems to be just let lane have at it and see what happens

No.

You forgot the most important piece of the puzzle. Saban.

Look, all you ever hear is how Bama's coordinators suck and Saban runs the show, until someone wants to hire a coordinator or does hire one and then they are world beaters.

I guess I should have said Bamas talent and Saban make Kiffen look better than he is.

But Kiffen is talented if he can stay out of his own way. Hell, were it not for two bkocked FGs against UT in 2009, UT would have beaten Bama and probably kept them from winning the NC.

So wait...I could usually get behind this but I just can't . Until Kiffin came around Bama wasn't dropping 45-60 on folks consistently. His offense has been ridiculous at Bama. That being said, their recruiting isn't light years ahead of LSU. LSU and Bama are usually neck and neck at recruiting.

That being said, I don't see Kiffin leaving Alabama. If he comes to LSU, awesome. He will vastly improve what we have seen the last 5 years.

And that makes it that much worse. Tom Herman could have blown the brakes off of LSU. I'm not a fan of O at all. He is what we have and I hope he does the best he can. I have tempered expectations and am hesitant, but he will have my backing today going forward. I was beyond pissed and let down today, but it will not effect my enthusiasm for our team.

That was from the time Fran was hired, NCAA sanctions, Mike Price, Mike Shula, etc. up until around the time Saban was hired.

Plenty of reasons to get banned back then

I'd taken Applewhite over Kiffin in a heartbeat. Kiffin is an egotistical jackass who, without a stern authoritarian holding the leash, will get in trouble with his arrogance. I don't think he & O are a good mix because I don't think his ego would fall in place behind a head
Coach who he was once the head coach of. That can cause some major issues in a locker room.

Look at the evolution of QBs and QB play over Saban's tenure. I never said Kiffen wasn't a very good QB coach.

I'm not saying I want Kiffen gone, just that I won't loose any sleep if he leaves. The next guy will pick up where he left off.

I remember a So Carolina game where McElroy was benched and Ingram ran the Wildcat and took UA all the way down the field to get the score to seal the game ('09) because McElroy was having such a shite game.

Plus Bamas's recruiting just keeps making the team deeper and deeper and more talented.

It reminds me of when I used to play NCAA on the XBox in Dynasty mode. You would vest teams the first cpl season by reasonable scores and 4-5 season into the dynasty you're winning 120-0.

If we go that route, I would say Kiffins offense has allowed QBs to flourish even more. Recruiting?Specialized recruiting due to scheme? I'm not sure. It seems to be the McElroy years and pre-Kiffin era, Bama's offense was not feared. Sure, they had some great players...really good players. But this offense he has been coaching and this defense together has been insane. It's almost an insult to throw shade at them. These boys ball and they ball hard. I think Kiffin has helped them out a lot.

I get the hate too though. He is a chode. Saban runs supreme, but he (Kiffin) has helped more than he has hurt for sure. He has brought Bama into the new era of offense and Saban deserves credit for getting them out of an archaic offense that will flourish.

A lot of truth there. The rub is whether anyone at LSU can keep him in check to the point where he doesn't go nuts here. We don't have a Saban to make everyone on the staff cower. Will O keep his buddy in line? That is a valid concern.
