unless you are dependent on them, reset that boundary. If you want a drink when you are around them, and they say no. GTFO.

Do that repeatedly. They will get the message. Once you stop being financially dependent on your parents, you have most of the power in that relationship. fricking use it. Its hard to grasp but it works.

My family drinks, so this isn't an issue. But if they didn't, I would just say frick it and have a drink myself. What are they going to do? Kick me out on tgiving? Yeah, that is going to work out well.
