This is the perfect answer- These artist don't know what the real world is like. They live in a bubble. In the words of F Zappa, " Shut up and play your guitar"
I went to a Pearl Jam show in 11/2013. I can't recall which shooting just happened? Maybe sandy hook? They played Jeremy and I thought "here we go. Here comes some anti-gun verbal excrement"... All he did was point out the origin of the song was nearby in Richardson Texas (suicide not mass shooting). Really only said something like "can't we work together so this happens less"? Something very un-arguable (real word?). And he left it at that. I was impressed. In Dallas. Heart of GWB country. Know your audience. And just fricking play.
