When I was younger we had to write linesnif we misbehanved and then get our parents to sign. That was worse than the lines.
When I was in college, I used fo sub at a couple schools and while I was extremely lenient, I would also give lines to those who woukd take advantage of it. The best part was that I woukd tell the class to settle down, and when kids didnt Id start writing the sentences on the board until the stopped talking. Typically each line would be a paragraph of 3 to 4 lines and Id start it at 10-15 lines. If they didnt turn them in the next day, they would double, and so on.
Gotta say it was pretty funny see'ing responses from parents saying they appreciated that I held the kids accountable. Majority or the time the lines always explained exactly what the kids were doing to be assigned the punish work so it wasnt like they could say I made the whole class do it.
