A restaurant in Shreveport, Blue Southern Comfort, has served gumbo over grits. Not sure if she still offers it that way.
I thought it was pretty good, but I prefer gumbo over rice (with a scoop of potato salad).

i've never had gumbo and grits, but i've no idea why anyone would question the validity ...
