They may pay in more federal money but they eat a ton of resources in terms of water and power.
The growth in population there has been cannibalizing their ability to grow food due to the use of water for the cities and the prioritization of "the environment" over projects that would help provide water over time.
The NIMBY attitude on power has also made them dependent on other states, especially due to power-intensive industries like Silicon Valley setting up their server farms in California and browning out the rest of the state to keep them running.

Perhaps true, but those policies could be reevaluated. To act as if California is not a MASSIVE part of the US economy is fricking retarded. This thread is a Trumpkin circle jerk. I'll take my leave.
