If a state's education system sucks, it's the fault of the people and their elected leaders in that state.
If that causes them to struggle economically versus the rest of the nation, they need to fix the problems. You know, like, try to emulate states who get it right.
This is interesting.
I haven't had much issue with federal standards, because the LA standards were so terrible. As crazy as it sounds, I'd rather the bureaucrats in DC decide what my kids learn, because the ones in Baton Rouge and the unions here are horrific. I want my kids to learn... I don't care who decides the standards as long as they are good... and in LA... they were terrible for decades.
If we can't fix the system in LA... do we just damn our kids to crappy learning? Or go outside the box, which is what common core did.
Having two kids in school, I'm glad we chose the option we did.
