Because he (and all the others who followed his lead and took a knee too) engaged in protest to complain about what they saw as inequality and oppression and demanded change. Voting is the best way to get things changed....so by him protesting for change, then not actually voting, its hypocritical of him.

This, it is the principle of the matter. And for a guy who uses his position to further his principles and beliefs to then not participate in change completely discredits his crying.
