2005 USC struggled on defense though. Although it probably would do well enough against this Bama offense. That's why I think 2004 USC is the standard.

yeah USC 05 defense might have been the worst in the pete carroll era, but the team was still a count hair away from beating a team that most would consider one of the 4 or 5 best teams in the past 20 years.
