An older guy at work that retired a few years back used to come in a few days a week and do some consulting and training. He walked in one time as some coworkers and myself were looking at an aerial map of the club I had recently joined, we were looking at the area I had walked through and dropped some pins thinking about stand locations and entry points. He sat down and listened for a bit, then followed with this.
"Y'all are over thinking this whole thing. If you want to kill plenty of deer, hunt a place that has plenty of deer. If you want to kill big deer hunt a place that has plenty of big deer."
"It's the same thing with anything from fishing to duck hunting, or bringing a girl back to the house. You don't go to a biker bar at 2:00 in the afternoon looking to bring home a super model."
"This hunt the wind, wear all this camouflage using scent free soap is all great once you get there but the most important part is being at a good location and being out there."
