My dad always used to tell me a story like this when I was first born. Someone broke the glass into the room where my crib was and he snuck up behind him with a bat. He hesitated at the last second because he didn't want to kill him and didn't hit him in the head. Guy freaked out and ran away.

I always told myself when I own my own home and have a family I will always have an alarm and weapon near my bed.
