The 90s was all political. We straight up have reed arena today because we stayed with UT and went to the big 12
2010 was weird too because I just don't think A&M leadership was ready to make such a monumental move but we were absolutely coming to the SEC if the Pac group was still going out west

Good for A&M on finally nutting up and making that move. A rivalry with Texas and the accompanying political pressure wasn't worth preserving in the place of a new, independent identity in a vastly superior conference. Not to mention LSU was a preexisting rivalry and Arky was a former SWC foe. Made the most sense of all the silly conference expansion moves.
