It wouldn't work here. The country is way too big to support a military with that many people in it. Hell, the government can't afford the military personnel we have now. I can't imagine how much it would cost to support a military with millions of people on active duty.

At the very least, if such a program is to be done, it ought to be done by the states. It's almost as if our intended form of government allows for experimentation for what can work!
