Look, Russell was a great athlete at LSU. Unfortunately, athletes often struggle to find a position in college. He didn't have the arm talent to play QB in the SEC, and he wasn't very natural at playing receiver.

Russell just didn't have the body type to play running back. Yes, he was very fast and shifty, but you can't run jet sweeps all game. He also didn't have the hands in college to be a reliable target coming out of the backfield.

Looking back, he probably should have made a transition to defense. In fact, he was asked to run DB drills at the LSU pro day. He could have been one of those guys that played defense but got an occasional snap on offense to utilize his athleticism.

Well said. His routes and body positioning on receptions were as bad as his hands in college.
