tell me why the pels shouldnt do this.

Because

we'd still have asik eating up 11MM

Would Noel be part of the Small Ball lineup, or would they go with AD at center and Hill/Jones at PF? If Noel isn't part of the Small Ball lineup or the Finishing 5 because of his 60% FT rate, then wouldn't paying him Max Money be a poor decision? Especially while you still have Asik? And that's not even taking giving up a 1st to get him into consideration.

All of this. I wouldn't even want to pay him, much less give up a first to do so. Noel is a better player, but it would be almost like the Asik trade all over again.

i get the asik argument...i really do.
at this point though we have to make the best of it, asik's money and the asset to get him are long gone.

the lineups he can play in are so limited

maybe they can move him next year. if he's so unwanted that the cannot, then why the hell should the pels make roster decisions around him? writ off the 11MM as dead money and move on

holiday/frazier/galloway
hield/moore
hill/pondexter/dante/gee
davis/jones/hill/noel
noel/asik/diallo

next year add either a first or high second rnd player, move asik, replace jones if necessary

i like it
