In my opinion the treasure got divided up over years.
I say this because after reading books like "The history of The Knights Templar" There were many less than brilliant generals in the Templar's. The larger the sacrifice (money)or donation made at the time you joined the higher the instant rank you received. One general was captured while escorting a pilgrimage to Jerusalem and decided to pay for the safe release of his men and women rather than fight. After paying something like 5 dinar per man the were beheaded one at a time just out of site. All the women turned into slaves. He was held for a larger ransom and was released after payment. 2 years later he lead another group capture in the same spot, paid the same amount with same results but he himself beheaded after the head Mounty refused to pay his ransom.
Cliff notes: many Knights were dumb as a rock.
