It's surprising he doesn't play better with the Monsters, but maybe he just needs NHL talent to get motivated?

Korpasalo was very solid. I wonder if Forsburg gets another chance.

Hot flames action on nhl tv.
Down 2-1 vs NJ

It's a completely different game between the AHL and NHL. Forsberg never looks comfortable out there and moves so much slower than Korp.

I think the difference was shown on the glove save korp made in the 3rd when it was 2 on 1. Korp took away the man with the puck and let the defender neutralize the backside attacker.
Made a great save and trusted his defense. That doesn't happen as regularly in the AHL.

Flames lose.
Scored 1 goal at home vs a backup goalie on a bad East team.
shite like this is how you miss playoffs
Edmonton tomorrow. Huge game

After what's gone down the past two games (and how both Korpi and he have played for the Jackets in their opportunities before this season), I think Korpi has cemented himself as the backup. This "competition" between he and Forsberg seems over (and I know Torts alluded tonight that it's not). In fact, it wouldn't shock me if Forsberg never steps on the ice for the CBJ ever again. I see only three ways he could even wear a CBJ sweater in the regular season/playoffs in the future:
1) Vegas takes Korpi in the expansion draft
2) CBJ trade Korpi this off-season to a desperate team
3) Bob/Korpi gets sick/injured.
And I think if numbers 1 or 2 happen, CBJ will go outside the organization for a backup. I just don't think the organization trusts Forsberg much at this point. If number 3 happens, Forsberg would be called up to be the backup, but I doubt he would play unless the injury to Bob/Korpi was really long-term (like a month or longer) because you can't have one goalie play every game for a month with no rest at all.
But as long as both he and Korpi are in this organization and all three (including Bob) are healthy, Forsberg will be in Cleveland. I feel for Forsberg because he's a pretty good AHL goalie (and Korpi really hasn't been that good in the AHL) but for whatever reason Korpi has shown he can elevate his level of play when under the bright lights of the NHL and Forsberg just hasn't been able to translate his game against the world's best players.

Capitals looking good

I don't think the CBJ will lose Korpisalo or Forsberg to the expansion draft. They will have to leave Wild Bill, Calvert and Anderson unprotected. Or maybe the unprotect Boone to protect one of those. Vegas only gets to pick one player...so we'll see what they do.

I don't expect it either, just that it's a possibility. Could also depend on who other teams leave unprotected.
ETA: I think more and more we'll protect Anderson over Boone. Crazy we could leave a 23-year-old who's previously scored 30 goals in a season unprotected.

This Philly Boston game is pretty good.

Some blogger got fired yesterday for insinuating that the 4 black people selected to the nhl all star game were only selected because they are black.
So the nhl can attract more black fans
Simmonds seems deserving to me.

We had Seth Jones picked who's very, very good, but Werenski would have also been a reasonable pick and (maybe this is wrong of me) I figured the fact that Jones is black may have been the tiebreaker.

Don't look now but the CBJ have recalled Forsberg, sent Bob back to Columbus. Korpisalo expected to start tonight.

Torts said last night that Korp was gonna play tomorrow (tonight) after the game.

Does Florida not have netting behind the goal? I thought it was required.
Posted on 1/14/17 at 6:32 pm to KosmoCramer
Yea it doesn't look like it and I also thought it was a requirement
Eta: maybe since they average a 25% full lower bowl they don't need it lol

Felt like that first period was going to be similar to last night. Hell of a response after Florida's goal.

Oh, what's that? Detroit is losing 30 seconds into the game and they fail to score on another power play? I think I've heard this story before.
