I see many bears where we hunt in Madison Parish. Bears have not been a problem although one reared up on my SIL's ladder stand, scaring hell out of her.
Most I have encountered are very shy and quick to run away.
The real danger is getting mixed up with a sow and cubs. Sows are VERY defensive of cubs and may actually charge, esp if you are between her and the cubs.
I don't fear them, but I can tell you this: You want to feel the hair stand straight up on your scalp? Walk up on a bear, in the dark by the feeder at your stand. And you have a flash light and an "unloaded" bow. That encounter resulted in the purchase of pepper spray that I have never had to use. Good luck.

The pictures we had were mostly at feeders, I have a feeling we will be walking a bunch of youguns to and from their stands for a while.
