The way I see it, Doc is in TM1 and sent back to old west. Marty finds TM1 in the present and uses it to go back to the West. This becomes TM2 in the west, since Doc still has TM1 with him.
No No No No.
If Doc digs up the time machine he buried then Marty is stuck in 1955 and part 3 never happens. If he fixes and reburies then the beginning of part 3 doesn't happen the way it did bc they had to fix the DeLorean & who knows that with an already fixed delorean if Marty ever stumbles upon docs grave? Doc wouldnt take that chance. Also with an already fixed delorean then who knows if the fuel line ever gets hit with an arrow & part 3 happens totally differently & the delorean is never on that tracks to get hit.
if you retcon the entire 3rd movie then who knows what else changed. Why bother with the damn train anyway?

What I'm saying is that the beginning of part 3 is the first iteration of this time travel loop. I don't view BTTF time travel like, say Lost, where whatever happened, happened. Since BTTF has shown that you can change the future by going to the past, this tells me that there is a original version of things, that then can be mucked up by time travel. I even specifically explained what I think happens on the next iteration of the loop off the original version of events for how Doc still gets the TM to Marty in my previous post. It has nothing to do with him digging up the TM he buried for Marty. He's created the next loop, which is not what we see in part 3. Part 3 is the original version of events, everything stemming off of the end of the movie creates a different version of events for Marty finding the TM in 1955 because we are moving on to the second, third, etc iterations of the loop that has been created.
