Watermark hotel just opened downtown. Supposed to be nice. It's a Marriott Category 5 property. I've heard good things about the new Holiday Inn on North Blvd as well.
If you are really that tied to Hilton, I'd go with either the Hampton or Hilton on Lafayette st. Both are good hotels. Another Broken Egg Cafe is in the IBM building...which is right next to the new Hampton Inn on Lafayette street, so they can walk to a decent breakfast place.
The Hampton Inn off College is pretty old, but I'm sure parking is easy.
For any of them, book early.
