To be included amongst coaches who you expect to win a NC with every few years, you need to at least win one. It's not that high of a bar if you think about it. There are two coaches who have shown they can do this - Saban and Meyer. Outside of that, Tier 2 is full of coaches who have either won a NC or are clearly the best coaches. Harbaugh is solidly at the top of that tier.

It's not that high of a bar?! Only one guy in the entire world can do it each year.
