quote:He should have hit the media first. Should have stated our position. And he should have stated that neither Greg Sankey nor Jeremy Foley were interested in rescheduling the game from the original location or time. Should have told everyone that we offered anytime on Saturday, Sunday, Monday either in Gainesville or Baton Rouge. And that Jeremy Foley said "No" and that Greg Sankey said nothing.
Wear was Alleva supposed to do once the SEC left it in Florida's court?
He let Florida set the narrative and therefore determine the outcome.

YES! Alleva is horrendous at being a figurehead, and that is a very important part of his job. He should have been saying PUBLICLY on Tuesday:
"First and foremost, our concerns are with those in Florida and along the southeast Atlantic coast who at risk due to this terrible storm. Athletics must always be subordinate to such matters of paramount importance. However, it is our job in the athletic department and at the league office, to consider the competitive integrity of our league, even as we keep well in mind that the safety of those in Florida is of overriding importance. Therefore, we believe it is imperative that the decision be made NOW to move Saturday's game either to Tiger Stadium, where we are absolutely prepared to host, or to some other safe location. This will ensure that the game is played while also ensuring that Floridians are not put at risk and that first responders can focus on the much more important task of preparing for Hurricane Matthew."
something like that. Would not have been hard, would not have made us look bad, and FOR ONCE, it would give LSU alums and fans the sense that our AD is out there doing something.
