But does that automatically mean Bama wins the tie-breaker? Really, there is no rule addressing the situation. The first tiebreaker would be who won in a head-to-head matchup. That would be LSU in this scenario. To stick Bama in ahead of LSU would be writing a rule into the tiebreaker rules that doesn't currently exist.

It isn't a tie. 7-1 is a better record than 6-1. The team with the best SEC record is the division winner. You don't need tiebreakers because there is a clear winner.
