But at some point in 108 years you would think they would have won at least one WS or even been to one. That is a long time with a lot of those years coming before expansion of teams. Also the fact that they are in a huge media market and can afford expensive players. It is really puzzling that they haven't won at least one.

It isn't puzzling at all. The Cubs were owned by a cheapskate idiot and a media conglomerate for a long time. They only recently entered this century in terms of scouting, front office personnel, and facilities. They chased high priced free agents and overpaid for their declining years. It is a miracle the Cubs ever contended over that time period when you look at it with a critical eye.

They were. They were in the 1910, 1918, 1929, 1932, 1935, 1938, and 1945 World Series.
