Yeah I think the "trucker" model I got is a different beast. It seems to do an awesome job bringing in signal from towers and it runs on 12V.

The drawback is your phone needs to be between 18 and 36 inches from the internal antenna.

So that wouldn't be great for a camp unless it was an off the grid type.

For my purposes it's perfect because I really don't talk on phone and if I do I don't mind staying put at the dining room table, because that's where I work usually when on the road. And it's easy to leave the phone there to create a hot spot with enough range to sit outside of the camper and work on laptop or stream etc. And easy to stream in bed.

$500 is steep but it allows me to keep up with clients on the road, which paid for itself in one trip.
