The scores for the matches in the NOLA 7's tournament has been posted. LSU trailed only once throughout the entire tournament 0-5 during the semi-final match against LSU-Alexandria which didn't last very long. That match was the closest one of the day for the Tigers as the final was 19-10 in the Tiger's favor. Overall LSU outscored it's opponents 158-20 over the five game tournament.

It's been a quiet couple of weeks for the Tigers as they've had open weeks for 15's. They did manage to put together a couple of 7's teams and won the NOLA Collegiate 7's Tourney. What makes this accomplishment impressive is that only one practice was devoted to practicing 7's on the Thursday before the tournament. The following weekend was Mardi Gras weekend, and the Tigers make it a point to avoid scheduling matches during that weekend with so many distractions.

In rankings news, LSU has moved back up to 17th in the D1A Rugby Poll (The official poll), and are now ranked all the way up at 14 in the Goff Rugby Poll. For obvious reasons I'll shamelessly use the higher ranking for my posts.

Up next for the Tigers is a battle with Texas A&M in College Station this upcoming weekend. These two teams met back in November with LSU leaving with a 36-26 victory. LSU and A&M have a long standing rivalry in rugby going back to the days when LSU, A&M, and UT would battle it out to be Texas Rugby Union Champs. LSU has come out ahead in recent years but most of the matches have ended up a close contest. A win here for the Tigers will clinch the Red River South and secure a spot in the Red River Championships against a surging Baylor team.

If anyone's in the area feel free to check out the match. It promises to be a battlefield due to the rivalry and tradition of the two programs.
