All in the name of pushing overpopulated rates into other A Schools that are understaffed. Your multiple NOS certs will mean the Navy can have you doing multiple jobs during your enlisted career which sounds nice until you learn that you might be forced into a NOS you don't really want.
I agree with the seaman/fireman/Airman thing...it was kind of hokey but the elimination of rates is a HORRID thing to do.
