Only by speaking the truth. He embarrassed them by saying what everybody was thinking instead of joining the BS propaganda cheer squad when they struck out on everyone they really wanted and hired Strong. And what he said has been proven to be correct: the man is a capable position coach or even coordinator if the talent is high enough, but he's out of his depth running a program of that magnitude.

They were just going to let him founder with no support but they wisely decided to support his recruitment efforts with the full bagman team in order to provide the next coach with a full talent cupboard.
