I smoked off and on for 20 years. I've quit for 4 years or so now and am very happy that I did. I would say that noticeable differences started a little less than a week after I stopped.

I didn't quit because I necessarily wanted to but I got diagnosed with a genetic blood clotting disorder and my doc said I could continue to smoke as long as I had a death wish. I used that motivation and patches to do it. Once I got through the initial week or two, I found every craving got easier to beat.

Congrats on quitting, it sucks at first but isn't so bad in time. Besides the health benefits, there's a certain freedom that comes with not being a slave to those frickers. Take that in and enjoy it hand in hand with the health benefits...
