We all learned last year that leaking stuff to the media can derail a negotiation. It also happened in 2007 whenever it was leaked that Les was going to Michigan, he felt immense pressure to stay because his team had a championship to win.

What they should do is instead of waiting for someone to leak actual information (and possibly nix the deal) after they get into negotiations with a coach they should have a few lower level guys give out false information about other coaches to negate any actual true information getting out. Seems like it would be a smart thing to do and something they should look into.

I would hope Joe isnt dumb enough to start having convos that could potentially be leaked. No deals are getting done anytime soon so it does no good. If any interest gets leaked, they could very easily lose their guy.

This will happen any way. It does in every search. Some agent will float his own client's name so that people will talk about his client and maybe elevate the client's brand among CFB hiring decision makers at other schools (Probably why you are hearing Kingsbury's name when there is no way he's a legit candidate for LSU).

Right, but it has affected LSU twice already. Whenever Kirk Herbstreit came out and said Les Miles to Michigan, he wouldn't have came out with that if he didn't have an excellent source and of course now we know there was some truth to it. It could be said that if that doesn't come out Miles may have gone. And of course last year whenever it was leaked that Les was going to be let go and Jimbo Fisher would accept the job you could argue that if none of that gets out then the deal may have gone through.

If Houston is on the cusp of the college football playoffs, we could have a repeat of 2007 if people start saying that Herman has agreed to take the job without anything being signed and scare him off.

If we throw other named along with his out there, even though its really him, it will just seem like hearsay instead of a guy like Herbstreit wanting to beat everyone to the punch back in 2007.
