He's been a USC fan since the Pete Carol days. Not surprised.

USC is not what it was. 95% of USC/UCLA fans did not attend either school. There was no NFL team there when Carroll was there. USC was their NFL team.
Now with the Rams (and maybe another) team in a West Coast version of Jerry World as their home, I think CFB will take a serious back seat. Not to mention the 2024 Olympics.
The Rose Bowl and LA Coliseum are dumps from the 1930s. The casual fan will jump to the NFL.
LSU is a much better job between the two, and can outbid USC for any coach. Plus assistants out at USC would be living in relative poverty out in SoCal vs in BR.
