Chief's press release lays out why happened

2 plain clothes officers in unmarked unit were parked getting ready to go serve a warrant

Guys pulls up next to them and starts rolling a joint. Officers didn't care. The warrant was their main priority

Then the guy pulls out his gun and they now see a guy smoking out with a gun out next to them

He then became their priority

Smoking pot is a crime so that's one

But more than likely, South Carolina has a law similar to LA that makes it a felony for you have guns and drugs in your possession at the same time
