If you are just going for normal AAA titles at 1080p, you could step all the way down to an i5 and RX 480. Always get the 8GB version though - 4GB isnt enough for many games at high settings.

SLI is mostly title dependent, some work well with it while others dont work at all. In either case, its always best practice to buy the best single card solution in your budget and consider adding a second card as an upgrade later down the road.



eta: There are 2 ways of going about building a gaming pc.
1) build the best machine to fit a specific budget
2) build to spec of a specific res and rate
pick which of those you want to do, and we can get you hooked up.

So this is why my balls were aching. Looks like it's handled though. I wish I had more than 30 seconds of free time.
