Nobody really knows, but there is a definite die-off going on with all amphibians. Frogs, toads, salamanders, newts. Science has been stumped to zero in on a cause. Speculation - climate, virus, fungus, chemicals in water, ground. Then to top it off here in FL, there is an invasive species of Cuban tree frogs that is larger than the native tree frogs. In fact, it is big enough to out-compete natives for food, and also eats the smaller natives for food. FL naturalists say whenever you see a Cuban tree frog, kill it. But I say, a frog is a frog. We can't afford to waste any of them.
