If I duck hunted every weekend of both splits and spent money on a lease, etc. then I'd justify the A400. As a guy who just goes when he gets invited, the A300 is plenty of gun.

Get the black rather than camo to keep it timeless.

I agree with this. I have the Xtrema 2 but I hunt ducks every weekend and during the week some. It's never jammed in the 10 years Ive had it. That said if I was a casual hunter or if I never shot geese I'd save my money and go with the A300 if you don't need 3.5". Everyone else I hunt with shoots Benelli and they love theirs. I don't like it. I find the stock is a little too short but they find my beretta stock is too long. May want to let your boy pick up a few Benellis and Beretta in a store and go from there.
