What steroid did David Ortiz test positive for?
When did Bonds test positive?

Let's go through what happens to steroid users. Their bodies break down with injuries later in their career. They under go a massive change in body size. Their numbers fall off a cliff after they stop using. They are embroiled in massive controversy.
None of these apply to Ortiz. It's my impression that his 2003 test was a positive for amphetamines. Easy to get off of. No bad side effects that would derail a career. If y'all want to cry about him cheating for using a drug like that, go ahead. Other high profile players of the past have used it. Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays to name two. Someone explain to me how Ortiz can play for 11 years under the strictest drug testing policy in professional sports and not have any failed test. He has consistently put up great offensive numbers because he doesn't play the field and is a great hitter. Period. End of story. See everyone in Cooperstown.

Man, that was easy.

Playing DH helps massively here
He doesnt have to worry about being in shape or athletic. He was always a fat arse.
Fact is he sucked arse and was in danger of being out of the league before meeting up with Manny and the rest of the steroid using 2000s Red Sox teams.

He was part of that group that took tests under the condition of being anonymous before it was against the rules. His name and I believe two others were the only ones linked, though 200 plus tested positive or were tested if I remember correctly.

He stopped using and mantained his hall of fame worthy offensive production. I guess aphemtimines don't really help in baseball all that much.

Technically it has never been released what he tested positive for. Ortiz admits that he basically put a ton of shite into his body, so he has no idea what it was.

He's a lovable personality and has been rigorously tested the past 10+ years and never tested positive again, yet maintained fantastic stats.
He's going to be an interesting HoF case. Normally I'd say DHs should never get in, but that being said, it's also hard to say there's been a more famous player during his 15 year career ya know?

Link amphatemines as the PED.
Posted on 9/21/16 at 8:02 am to StrongBackWeakMind
Link to anything as his PED. Link to the list he is on. Link to who leaked the list. Link to his failed test the last 11 years.

I say let ortiz, arod, bonds, Mcguire, clemons, pedro, and Sosa in

Correct. He said that (a) he put a lot of shite in his body, (b) was taking what everyone else was taking, and (c) has no idea what he popped for because it was never released to him.
How the blind Red Sox homer got amphetamines out of that, we'll never know.

At the end of the day, none of us really know if he tested positive for steroids, HGH, amphetamines (sp?), or whatever. It's really frustrating that they leaked his name, but not what he tested positive for. If it was steroids, chances are he would have fallen back to earth and not had just disgusting years in 06, 07, 11, 12, 13 and so on. But, there's always the chance he took them and just for whatever reason never saw the fall off too. I also seriously doubt MLB is going out of their way to not test an older player putting up great power numbers after what happened during Bond/Sosa, so his great numbers over the past 10 years aren't tainted in my point of view.

He got popped on the anonymous 2003 PED screen. If you don't want to remember that, not much I can do for you. Most of us live in the world of reality.
Now what about those amphrtamines?

FTR, I don't care about PEDs in sports. They make players better. MLB shot themselves in the foot by going after users and ruining the long ball.

Not even Giants fans were in this much denial about Bonds
How much more obvious can it get
I am a Rangers fan and Pudge never tested positive but I am certain he used and therefore I don't think he should be in the Hall until they let in the other steroid users.
But then again I am not a blind homer.
Can you imagine if Pudge played for the Yankees or Red Sox most of his career. He'd be a first ballot lock. Since he played for the Rangers its a question.
The team you play for matters a big deal. If Ortiz stuck with the Twins his whole career yet put up the same numbers no one would be talking HOF. He'd be looked at as Edgar Martinez.
Too many NE Red Sox/Yankees fans on the BBWAA.

The amphetamines was simply a guess on my part. What drug could Ortiz have been on that wouldn't destroy his career if he got off it?
No one has ever seen that list. No one knows who leaked the names. You take an anonymous source from the NYT and parade it around as gospel. The whole thing reeks of a smear job by some salty Yankee fan.
