FreedomPop review after 8 months.

So my wife and I left Verizon in February. I talked her into trying FreedomPop since she didn't use much data.
She owned an IPhone 6.
FreedomPop runs off of the sprint network and tries to use wifi calling when available. There are many quirks with the program but it has been completely free for 8 months. She won't switch! She loves having a real phone and the bills never come.
What she gets:
Unlimited calls
Unlimited texts
1 gb LTE data
What she doesn't get
Voicemail
They way it works is when we initially signed up we had to pay $20 to have as a credit in case she ever surpassed her 1gb data.. but she never goes over 600mb so she has never "topped up".
They haven't hit my credit card with any payments.
I can't use only 1gb but it's a great value for anyone budgeting.
The craziest thing is we have Friends struggling financially and we cannot convince them to even try it.
I'm amazed she's went 8 straight months with no bills and I actually think unlimited calls / texts and 1gb LTE is insane for being free.. even with the quirks

That's why they are struggling. They can't make the changes they need in life.

I assume this is only over wifi?
Or does sprint just not care if you piggyback off of their network?

They do sell hardware like wifi hot spots, gsm dongles, etc. Plus there are premium levels. I think you have to pay for 1GB of data, but under 600mb is free.

The 1gb level is free if you sign up for the trial. As long as you don't top out the data it doesn't recharge you and includes unlimited talk and text.
