Gouging would be taking advantage of a situation. So instead of keeping the same margin you would make multiple dollars a gallon instead of cents.

So I assume that if said hypothetical gas station posted gas for sale for $7 / gallon the public wouldn't accuse the station of price gouging?

Would this scenario even be legal under existing price gouging laws?
