Bro, we ran 50% less total plays in the second half. Thus the run to pass ratio was about the same in both halfs. So if we had say 20 total plays in the first half and ran 10 times and passed 10 times then had only 10 total plays in the second hal
With Etling being dual threat with his legs, why not mix up shotgun in 2nd half with all those passes? He has natural escapabilify & more time to read the D from there was in a while.
The problem isn't the run/pass ratio this game. It's the "quality" like Les used to say. It was obvious from the 3rd qtr we were going into a shell again-- with conservative passes (yes deep 1 on 1 balls are conservative low TO passes)....no utilization of the middle of the field whatsoever passing.
That means the safeties can cheat on Leonard & get better angles on him. Lots of 2 man routes, 2 TE sets, etc. Great teams stay with what's working- Miles' teams nurse the lead like a breast feeding mother & it's aggravating to watch instead of going for the jugular.
