The ACT isn't a test to see how many "facts" you've retained. It's a timed aptitude test.
The math part has algebra, geometry, trig, and some calculus on it. Sorry, but no way is a 12 year old going to do well on a math test with all those on it. It's gotta be a watered down version for Jr. High level.

In 7th grade, you are taking prealgebra. Concepts. Since all formulas are given to you on the ACT, the math section is more a test of realizing what goes where.
The science section is nothing more than reading graphs. And the english and literature sections are common fricking sense.
