I actually think its a very effective way of bringing their cause to the for front of the news/media. I see nothing wrong with it. I know I'm in the minority here that believe in personal freedoms over symbolic protection. I think it shows more patriotism to support Americans over a flag and song. I wouldn't kneel during the anthem, but would fully support any team mate that feels the need to do so.

This is such a hollow comment and one that keeps getting thrown around by the media in defense of the people that protest the anthem. It's a strawman argument that is trying to make the other side into lunatics that want these people arrested. Nobody is arguing to take away her personal freedom. She can kneel all she wants, but there may be consequences. She doesn't have the inalienable right to play for the USWNT. She is a player that is past her prime, has become a distraction, and no longer feels pride in her country. Well, the team should do her a favor and not call her up anymore. She won't have to represent such a terrible country anymore.
