That is strange. I've never shot a 35 whelen but I can't imagine its recoil being more than a 300 wby mag. Me and my friend that has the 300 wby shoot ours fairly often and the scopes are holding up just fine. We both have diamondbacks.

They tend to be extremely light rifles and extremely not fun to shoot.
