"all the time"... some people go camping 95% of the time maybe once or twice a month usually within an hour where you live. So all the time might be here and there. I don't know what OP plans to do. And a half ton towing 7-8k is not 100%. Half ton would do quite fine.

He is leaving out a lot of variables, but also the terrain he plans on driving. Pulling in the mountains =/= pulling from LA to FL
