How is this possible with other conference champions with potentially having no more than one loss?
I mean, just look around college football.
Big 12 is garbage. Is Oklahoma still going to win that conference? To do it with less than 2 losses, they'd have to win out. That's including a game against Ohio State (which I do think they'll win).
The Pac 12 will beat each other up more this season than last season. UCLA and USC both already have a loss. Stanford also has to play @ Notre Dame. Notre Dame? They already have a loss.
The Big Ten East is a good division. Michigan State plays @ Notre Dame this week, which is probably a loss. They won't win out after that. Ohio State plays @ Oklahoma, @ Wisconsin, @ Michigan State. Michigan plays @ Michigan State, @ Iowa, and @ Ohio State.
It'll be tough for a Big Ten team to win that conference with less than 2 losses.
ACC will very likely produce an undefeated or 1-loss champ. There's a chance both Clemson and Florida State could get in the playoff.
Long story short, there will be a lot of teams beating each other up this season in college football. shite, 4 top 10 teams already lost. Teams like Georgia, Wisconsin, Michigan State, Washington, Texas, and Louisville are ranked in or around the top 10. All of those teams are taking multiple losses this season.
There's a good chance that there are MULTIPLE two-loss teams in the playoff this season.
