One of the most embarrassing, disappointing LSU losses Miles may not have seen

It was one of the most embarrassing, disappointing and inexplicable LSU football losses in the program's 123-year history.
Scratch the "inexplicable."
It was all explained in a brief halftime radio interview as LSU coach Les Miles was running off the field here in Saturday's season opener at Lambeau Field. His team was trailing unranked Wisconsin 6-0 after the Tigers' offensive juggernaut totaled 64 yards, 26 rushing and completed three passes for 38 yards.
Miles to LSU sideline reporter Gordy Rush: "We need to run the ball better. We've thrown the ball well."
What is Miles' definition of "well?" Is that is "Oh well" or "Well, hell."
quote:
There's no one to blame except the guy who pockets a $4.38 million annual paycheck, the person who said after nearly being fired at the end of last season he thinks his archaic offense only needs tweaking, the funny, quirky guy who annually lands top 10 recruiting classes and turns them into teams battling for minor bowl bids.
quote:
His repeated answer to several questions from the media after Saturday's debacle: "I'll have to wait and see the film."
Really, does he have to see the film to realize how unprepared his team looked?
quote:
The move to put offensive coordinator Cam Cameron on the sideline and not the press box couldn't rescue an offense that gained just 257 yards and didn't have a drive longer than 49 yards. The next step for Cameron might be to find a TV monitor near a concession stand and call plays from there.
Honestly, it looked like no time had really passed between last season and Saturday. You have to discount LSU's offensive explosion in the Texas Bowl against Texas Tech's junior high defense.
The biggest disappointment was returning starting quarterback Brandon Harris. All through preseason training camp, Miles and all the key offensive playmakers raved about his poise and improved passing.
quote:
Miles tried to present his usual sunny-side up in the wake of a disastrous postgame speech to his team.
"I told them the opportunity to be a good football team and a contender is in front of us, that sometimes you play a marquee team at the beginning of the season and you finish second," Miles said.

Welcome to Groundhog Season, LSU fans, you've watched this movie before
Is there really a satisfactory answer for the second-half punt return in which only nine Tigers were on the field?
Considering the expectations and talent level at hand, this was Miles' biggest bummer since the 2011-2012 BCS Championship Game no-show against Alabama in the Superdome.
Now, after just one game, they find themselves back on the treadmill of frustration and national irrelevance.
Welcome to Groundhog Season, Tiger Nation. You're used to it by now.

Leonard Fournette Stats & Highlights vs. Wisconsin
After a quiet first quarter in which LSU had less than two minutes of total possession
Wisconsin continued to bottle up Fournette for the rest of the second quarter, however, including a key fourth-and-short stop
He limped off the field, though, and two plays later Brandon Harris threw a horrendous interception to seal the victory for the Badgers.

Wisconsin Kicks Late Field Goal to Break LSU Streak
the Tigers had a first down at the Wisconsin (1-0) 30-yard line with a minute to play. However, quarterback Brandon Harris was intercepted at the Badgers 25.
LSU was outgained 339-257, as Wisconsin had a 36:57-23:03 advantage in time of possession.
A 23-yard punt by LSU freshman Josh Growden allowed Wisconsin to take over at its 40.
with fourth-and-1 - Fournette was stopped short
his pass came up well short of the Tigers receiver and was intercepted.

Y'all are acting like they lost at home to ULL.... Wisky is a pretty good team.

This is such a loser attitude

In so sick of the finishing second crap he spews after every loss. You didn't finish second coach, you lost.

national irrelevance
If this was true then game day wouldn't have been at game yesterday after way we played last season.
Even if LSU goes 7-5 it will be followed heavily nationally on firing and the coaching search.
LSU is relevant as ever...just not in a title race

I'm still sick to my stomach. Everything is getting on my nerves. If Miles is fired today the season is wasted. If Miles stays the season is wasted. What a shitty predicament to be in. High hopes, low outcome.

Pretty good but unranked.

So years of the same problematic philosophy is not an issue? Please predict Miles to be head coach at LSU in 2017.

No, they were sloppy. We made them look much better. Go back and rewatch the game as a critic rather than LSU fan. Wisc left a lot of points on the field based on poor performance. They are not that good... we suck miserably.

So you think ULL is better than Wisky?????

Even if Wisconsin is a "pretty good team", LSU is supposed to be MUCH better. You know, with the coaching payrolls and top 5 recruiting classes and such.

It's gratifying that members of the local media are beginning to tell the unadulterated, blunt truth about the clod running our team. Sitting in Lambeau yesterday was an infuriating, mortifying experience.

Your reading comprehension and thought process is as bad as Miles' coaching.

This comment referred to after the game. And after GameDay.
GameDay accepted Miles comments throughout the off-season that he had learned his lesson and would open up the offense.
It appears you believed Miles also.
