I live in suburban Milwaukee. If you'd like suggestions or advice just ask.

Definitely looking for some good pub food Friday night where the beer flow is plentiful.

Pura Vida:
If staying downtown, many options. North Milwaukee Street restaurants/bars downtown will play well with the wives/girlfriends. Open air (weather will be refreshing for you this weekend) urban upscale dining...pricing will be comparable to New Orleans or a little lower (restaurant names to search and see pictures/menu: Cubanitas, Sake Tumi, Carnevor (steaks), Indulge (cocktails), Zarletti. If the women are LSU fans but not diehard football types, then
they may like these types of dining atmospheres.
Also, Milwaukee is noted for German food... Karl Ratzch's.
Other ideas: Iron Horse restaurant at the Harley Davidson museum (upscale but $$$)...fun if you are a motorcycle enthusiast. Or just the Iron Horse bar for cocktails then on to a good but less pricy restaurant.
Note: Wherever you go to dine, expect big portions. It's the norm in Wisconsin...the German/Polish/Eastern European heritage thing.
In Wisconsin, the "Friday Night Fish Fry" is standard. It's an old Catholic Lenten tradition. You can get this at most restaurants. The pan-fried Walleye or Perch are always a great choice. The traditional cocktail with the fish fry is the Old Fashioned...although the WI tradition is to make it with brandy as opposed to bourbon.
Otherwise, please advise where staying (approximately) and I can give you ideas in that area.

Water Street is NOT the best for adults... Those 35 and older.
You would want the better atmospheres on North Milwaukee Street and Brady Street areas downtown. Better restaurants and plenty of interesting cocktail bars, open air bars, sports bars, etc. You can check these out on Google maps.

Hmbrown18:
At the Pfister, You will be right in the heart of the North Milwaukee Street area ...one block away. You'll be set. Just walk it. See suggestions I posted.
At the Pfister, you can also have drinks in the cocktail lounge on the top floor, and there is an adjacent Steakhouse called Mason Street Grill... Upscale dining.

Have a crew of 17 staying at the Hyatt. Eating at Harbour House tomorrow night and will probably troll this thread for bar suggestions. Should be wild.

Texastiger:
Harbor House (right on Lake Michigan adjacent to the art museum) is probably the best seafood restaurant in Milwaukee (pricy but not outrageous... My wife and are regulars there). You'll get better shrimp in Louisiana and Texas though...same day catch), but they have an excellent wine list.
The walleye and perch (fresh water, Lake Michigan fish) are outstanding. I prefer pan fried in butter, but they will make it "blackened" it for our Cajun friends.
Adult Bars... Brady Street or North Milwaukee Street areas 10 blocks or so from Hyatt. Taxi it (cheap). Safe House off of Water Street for the Cold War spy era atmosphere.
