Her mom has a lot of health problems that contributed, but my wife's fear of becoming overweight is irrational. Trust me, she's into her 40s and still looking as good as the day I married her over 20 years ago. I constantly tell her I'd rather see her enjoy life and gain 20 pounds than miss out on one of life's greatest pleasures out of irrationality.
....Though don't think I haven't taught my son's the old adage about "look at your girlfriend's mother."
